Specialist Training GPs

Dr Sara Owens will be with the practice from 1 August 2012 to 6 August 2013.

Dr Karen Weir will also be with the practice from 3 May 2013.

Both Dr Owens & Dr Weir are fully qualified doctors and have been working with the hospital environment over the past few years. They are currently undertaking further training to work in General Practice.

You may be offered an appointment with Dr Owens or Dr Weir.

Specialist Nurses

Our practice nurse will see patients by appointment for new registrations, heart disease, asthma, diabetes, COPD, hypertension, stroke and epilepsy. These clinics are operated alongside a doctor. The practice nurse will be pleased to give advice to those patients going abroad. However, travel advice/vaccinations are not within the remit of the NHS and will attract a charge.

Practice Management

Our practice manager and reception team are here to help and guide you. They are bound by a code of absolute confidentiality and have been trained to take essential details sympathetically. This allows them to inform the doctors of important information about patients' queries.

Community Midwives

Our midwife can help you with all aspects of care prior to conceiving, during your pregnancy and in the first 10 days following your baby's delivery, or longer if required. She is present during antenatal, postnatal and well women clinics at the health centre.

Community Nurses

The district nurses provide home nursing care and services for patients who are unable to attend the surgery. Please do not request the services of our district nurses if you are able to attend the surgery.

Health Visitors

Our health visitors routinely visit mothers and babies from 11 days old until five years old. They advise on subjects such as child development, feeding and immunisations.

New Partner

Dr L Alexander joined the practice on 1 August 2012. Dr Alexander previously worked with the practice as a Locum GP, as well as, completing her specialist training year at Old School Surgery. We welcome Dr Alexander as a new partner.

Dr Gibson

After 13 years with the practice Dr Gibson is leaving to dedicate more time to her family. Dr Gibson will be missed by her friends and colleagues. We wish her well for the future.
