TEXT MESSAGING - Important Information

The surgery will be sending text messages to inform patients when they are due for  certain review such as Blood Pressure or where we require updated information such as smoking status.  These text messages will not contain personal information such as your name etc.   Please ensure your mobile numbers are up to date. If you do not wish to receive text messages please write to us and we will update your records accordingly.

Many thanks

Call Blocking  -  Does your mobile phone accept calls from unknown numbers?

The practice are experiencing difficulty contacting patients who have provided their mobile numbers due to Call Blocking.  Generally this is when patients have provided their number during the emergency triage clinic or when the doctors or administration team need to contact a patient regarding test results etc.

If you are contacting the practice please ensure you provide a number which will receive calls from an unknown number.

Thank you

MMR Catchup

The Northern Health and Social Care Trust is undertaking a Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccination catch-up campaign aimed at ensuring all children and young people are fully protected.

The vaccinations are targeted at those aged from 6 – 25 who have not yet received both doses of the MMR vaccine.

With measles cases on the rise, the campaign aims to help prevent the spread of contagious diseases.

If you, or your child, have not yet received both doses, you will receive a letter inviting you to attend a vaccination clinic.

Children aged between 12 months – 5 years can get the vaccine through their GP practice.

Encouraging all those who require a vaccination to come forward, Northern Trust Lead Nurse for Public Health Nursing Geraldine Doherty said: “It is important for people to understand that measles is a highly infectious viral illness which can lead to serious complications.

“This catch-up campaign aims to ensure that we have fully vaccinated as many of our children and young people as possible, protecting them and the wider community from serious illnesses which are wholly preventable.

“We are aware of a growing number of measles cases across the UK and Europe, so I would urge all parents, carers and young people to recognise the importance of supporting this campaign by coming forward for vaccination if it is required.”

Practice Telephone System - From: Friday 23 April 2021

We have now moved to a new telephone system.  When you contact the surgery you will be provided with a number of options,

If you have a critical emergency you should dial 999 and not wait to be connected to a member of staff.

Press 1 - Repeat Prescriptions - you will be connected with a member of the administration team between the hours of 11.00am to 12.30pm & 2.30pm to 4.00pm.  Outside these times until 5.30pm you can leave your name, date of birth, address and name and strength of medication you require.

Press 2 - to book a telephone consultation with the GP.  Please note these consultations are limited & once they have been allocated each day you will be asked to ring the following day.  The administration staff will ask  questions on behalf of the doctor to ensure you are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional i.e. queries regarding medication will be directed to one of our Practice Based Pharmacists.

Press 3 - General Enquires.

Please note:  if you leave a message on our repeat prescription line for issues not related to a medication order your request will not be processed.

We would like to thank everyone for your patience and kindness shown to our staff.  Unfortunately, a minority feel it is appropriate to verbally abuse our staff and this cannot be tolerated.  Such behaviour may result in your removal from the practice list.
